Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Not a lecture, not a demand, but a conversation. Let him know that you are concerned because of the family history of alcoholism. Tell him signs to watch out for in how he views drinking (drinking by himself, always wanting more, etc.,) Talk to him about what it is like to be an alcoholic -- what sucks about it. Ask him how he feels about drinking.... and listen to what he has to say.
Not sure how well my portion went over, and will go over after my talk with his guidaince coucellor at school. I contacted him because he has been a mentor.
I am a graduate in Psychology and social services. I did that to stop the cycle. And, I remember one of my Professor's word's every day, "You choose Psychology to help pelople, you're trying to find a way to help yourself,"
It's true. I had hoped, but failed.
