Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Many things got uncovered for me as I tried to live sober, but I wanted to live sober, kind of forced me into a Corral.
Keep it up
P
I drank over my past and felt sorry for myself for years.
I have 5 years sober and I do attend AA
My 2nd year of sobriety I got a friend request on My Space... It was my daughter that I gave up when she was 1 years old!! If it were not for AA and my sobriety she would not have ever found me.
My other daughter who's father raised her has asked me to help her for the first time ever and I am glad that she feels like she can ask me. I dont live in the past anymore I live in the "here and now" The past is the past and there is nothing I can do about it, I cant change it but I can do the best I can today and I do that "one day at a time"
One thing IS beyond doubt - addiction makes us weak, frightened, sick and stupid. Battling addiction teaches us strength, common sense and maturity.
You do not know what wonderful things, experiences and people await a "sober you," so I respectfully suggest you put all your energy into sobriety and evolution and stay steady. Don't dwell on "poor me", take a look at other's sadness as well to give yourself some REAL context.
When I was 3 years sober, I went into therapy for three years. If I was drinking, it would have never occurred to me and I wouldn't have gone so....
I hope you choose to stay sober. As someone used to tell me, "Don't stop until the miracle happens."
Hugs.
Stay sober....in my case no matter how bad I feel, I'm just happy that I am feeling again :)
Best of luck to you, and look for the good things you do have! To me having feelings of any sort is a good thing
Join a ski club - there are activities all year long and wonderful people who like the outdoors! Maybe you like working on cars - whatever you enjoy (your passion) begin with that.
I dearly hope you will go forward and give yourself the opportunity to enjoy the adventures and surprises life has to offer if you will continue to stay sober.
Take good care.
