The want has to be more than the need...

Life will always throw stuff up, sometimes good, sometimes bad, its our perception of it and how we deal with it that makes the difference. We go back to ways of dealing with it like drinking and gambling until we find other ways to look at life and other ways to deal with it.

God will help with that but only if we are also willing to put in some action ourselves.

May be you could look at things differently. At least you have a husband which your friend has sadly now lost. At least you have a paycheck coming in next week which the people your husband is laying off possibly wont. I have found that if I look at things differently I can deal with them differently and my life gets a lot better even when difficult stuff is happening.

If you had spent last night trying to help/be there for your friend who must be in the most terrible amount of grief after her loss rather than drinking and gambling to try and take your own feelings away you would probably feel a lot better this morning.

It might sound really harsh for me to say that but in my experience it is true.

I couldnt make those changes in my life overnight but if I was willing to put the action in the amount of Power I got to help me was amazing. I now no longer use alcohol to deal with life or life as an excuse for drinking alcohol. I am a happier person and a better person even when life is hard.

Have you thought about trying other ways to solve you alcohol problem by allowing God to help you. The 12 step program worked for me and it not only gave me a way to stay sober it also gave me a different way to deal with life.

The way you are living is a really painful way and it could be so different.

Think to yourself what feels worse. All the problems before you drink and the same problems after you drink. I hate that feeling of guilt. I know it was intense the last time I had it.

THE SECRET IS YOU HAVE TO WANT THIS FOR YOURSELF. DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP I HAVE A FEELING U WILL BE GETTING THE PROGRAM. I NEVER FELT BETTER WITH MY NEW LOOK ON LIFE.

The comes a time if your a alcoholic which i am assuming you are since your posting here and read a few times you as asking for help or advice, you have to make a decision to get better and find a solution through wiliness, and acceptance. As someone told me ya don't drink even if your ass falls off NO MATTER whats going on in your life. it will always be better tomorrow. The question is do you really want it??

If none of us relapsed, we would all be recovered. Then we wouldn't have DS, and alot of us we would be bored to tears.
Live in the solution, don't lay there in the problem.

thanks guys.. all comments have helped.. even the harsh ones. things i needed to hear. i am just so sick of doing so good and them failing sooooo badly.. sometimes i start to get really mad at my husband.. he knows i want to quit all these bad, sinful habits, but he continues to do them in front of me and encourages me to gamble..
he says he don't have aproblem with any of the things i want out of our lives..
and i know that i kinow that he loves me, he is just stuck in addicts denial...

I needed a program to teach me some tools to avoid the first drink and to learn how to live sober. Don't give yp!

That is a hell of a mix gambling and drinking I feel for you honest.I know both are hard to control as I have been in this situation.

It is good you are disgusted it makes one aware that it is going to ruin ones life and relationships if nothing is done about it.

Do all you can before it gets worse but that is your choice and it is a choice for yourself only I think.
