Share the Language of the Heart...you cannot go wrong even it is only one Soul that is helped. What is one Soul worth?

Hi loved1 I enjoy my AA meetings a lot. I am with a very good group. I am still new to sobriety, and I try to share from my heart. I haven't memorized quotes from the book as others do. I was asked to read the traditions tonight and this excited the tar out of me. If you are speaking from the heart you can't go wrong.

I used to pre-meditate what I a was going to share, but now it just comes naturally.. I don't even think about it. Experience, strength, and hope.

I talk alot when I first Got in those Rooms of Alcoholics But I would share, and all that would come out was shit that came from my Experiences with how Fuck up my life was Because I could not Stay sober, I too am Grateful for A.A. and it has saved My Life and Given me a Desire to Live!!!!e

Most of us go into a meeting with 3 stories to share though most wont admit it.

The first is the one when you are going to a meeting or you are at a meeting listening to someone else share and you relate to something they are saying and you say to yourself if I am ask to share I will talk about that or I will share this.

The second story is the one if you are ask to share ,when you get up you talk about something entirely different and you forget about what you where going to say. But don't worry because what comes out is what is meant to come out.


Then there is the third story when we sit back down and say to ourself s I wish I would have said this or I wish I would have said that.

I wonder if anyone can to relate to what I just said.

I was at a meeting tonite and I just wanted to listen. the topic was the first step. towards the end of the meeting, an old timer pointed at me to share and i just shook my head no, then another person with a good amount of time looked at me and gave me the old ''its your turn buddy'' look. not one to belive in just coincidence , I spoke up, and the words just flowed, After the meeting I had 7 or 8 people thank me for my experience strenght and hope and also for my service. I geuess my higher power wanted me to carry the message tonite, instead of keep it for myself.

I can be guilty of sitting there and planning what I want to say and so end up not listening and learning from others! It is 'stinking thinking' and one I now try to not do.

As GNR said, I try to just say what comes out now....invaribly I found it is different to what I had contemplated sharing anyhows.

As I heard at an AA meeting this week....we got sick through our mouths and we will heal through our mouths :)

Lionel, you are somewhat right, but I really do give the person sharing my undivided attention.. Then if there is that awkward moment with silence, I will address myself and only know what the topic is about. Usually pause for about 5 sconds and the sharing just comes naturally.
I guess after going to meetings for 20 years with a bunch of BS,, kinda contrbutes
to my sharing.
My sponsor is funny, as soon as the topic is open for discussion, he is always the first to share,, and is super hard to follow. He assures me it is not him talking.

I sometimes share and feel vulnerable -i used to i should say-well sometimes I mean! i do feel vulnerable after sharing And sometimes i beat myself up after sharing deepply of my life-I've learned on those days I have deflated my ego and thats just the best thing for me to do-the next best thing is listening and learning-thats just for me -my experience!you must be doing well in your groups eyes Good on you!!

Tradition 5 states that:
Each group has but one primary purpose-to carry its message to the alcoholic who still suffers.

First part of Tradition 2 states that:
For our group purpose there is but one ultimate authority- a loving God as He may express Himself in our group conscience.

Every one is different is some way. Our personalities, our perceptions, 10 people may say exactly the same thing, yet someone will get it one way and not another. God speaks to us through others. Healing takes place in a spirit of patience, love and tolerance.

I used to do a lot of 'rehearsing' in meetings but these days I ask God to give me the words to say that will be of the most benefit to the meeting.
If I always bear in mind that the purpose of an AA meeting is not to share about my crappy day, or my crappy family, or my crappy cat blahblah and understand it is about carrying the message of hope then it will all be ok and I will have done what I am supposed to do.

Having said that, I couldn't share about my crappy anything as there is nothing crappy in my life anyway!

Loved... I had the opportunity to speak at a meeting last Saturday and it was awesome. I have to say it's the first time I've chaired where I felt totally comfortable in my own skin, and knew that the words I were speaking were not my own, but God's message. It was incredible, and the discussion afterwards... well, let me just say I'm sure I got more out of that meeting than anyone got from listening to me! lol

I get the opportunity to speak again this Sunday at another meeting, and am just praying that God is right there with me, prompting me to say what others need to hear.

I like to hear newcomers share their experience. There is always a little bit of step 1 & 5 there.

When it comes to old-timers, I prefer to hear their strength & hope.

I love to listen & share. I can share unless I feel I'm gonna burst out crying if I speak. It's never made me uncomfortable if anyone else cries. I actually am glad they did. I think it's very healthy to cry but I can't cry in front of anyone. I don't know why. I've gotten a little better though, I think. No, I haven't...

I think it works.
