Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I went to court this morning for sentencing. This was my 2nd OVI in 6 years with a refusal to take the BAC test (happened 12/28/14). Since my pre-trial on 2/3 I have been sober over 2 months, I've been to 22 AA meetings, I've received my 24 hour, 1 month and 2 month chips. I had a device installed in my car which you have to blow into to start and keep the car running (it beeps at times while you are driving). I had this put in on 2/11. I've been back to work going on 4 weeks and things are going well with the job
Here is my sentence: (I was told best scenario)
10 days in a in-treatment facility
3 days per week of out treatment for one year
2 year suspension of driving privileges (except for work, medical)
Interlock (blow device) for one year
Minimum 3 AA meetings per week which I'm currently doing
1 1/2 years of probation
995.00 in court cost
800.00 for interlock
2500.00 lost income from work
500.00 for the in-treatment program
4500.00 in attorney fees
Everyone says it costs about 10,000.00, well they are correct!
Thankful that I am finally getting through this and nobody was hurt and no property was damaged. Take it from me "Don't do it"!
looks like I'll be very busy for the next year, I should probably earn some type of honorary degree when all is said and done. I also need to submit samples at random intervals and at every probation meeting. A violation lands me in jail for 6 months.
It sure doesn't pay to meet your buddies on the weekends to hear a band and drink beer. Damn!

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

Keep doing the next right thing.
Man..that is a lot of money..and I know because my son went thru this and my son wasn't even a drinker and he got most of this on the first UI charge. He wasn't even drunk but submitted to a blood test (after passing breathalizer) they found pot in his system...and charged him.
Stay doing what you are doing and you will get thru this.
At least I know what I need to do. It could always be worse. The reason the judge imposed this particular sentence is because he felt I was in danger of relapse. That really made me think and accept the conditions. This particular judge kind of took a liking to me in a strange sort of way. He told me to stay out of his court room, forever!

Work on thinking healthy; not about the $.
The only reason I say it like that is, because it is nature to want something more when we are told we can't.

Congratulations on your journey! Keep up with the good fight it does get better. So much better. I'm living proof of that.
