rough day

I thought I was having a rough day until I read some other posts, then i realized I'm just having a rough moment, and really not so rough.  Husband and i are fighting, his 12 year old, my 22 year old, I work too much, spend too much time on homework, don't appreciate him enough, I'm tired, and have a lot of homeowrk to do.  I feel like going to AA and my therapist is like another job, and I don't want to go.  I just want to stay home on my day off, clean house, cook, and do my homework.  I'm whining and I'm sorry.  Yesterday I kept thinking, I can just go back to drinking, I can handle it, I've learned a lot in the past 15 months, I can control it.  I guess I learned nothing because I know I can't control it!  Today is a better day because my head is clear, I will not turn to that stupid bottle of poison.  life will get easier, one day at a time1

yes dragonfly it is 1 day at a time ! Glad you didnt go back into the poison , you can do it !

Stay home take care of yourself. I found out today that i will need back surgery in on 1/29/18. I spent the morning, of my day off, at the surgeons office, getting pre-op chest x-ray EKG, and blood work. On the way home, I stopped at an expensive burger joint. It's the only place that I can get a rare burger. Hmmm. It was delicious,

Great decision not to drink when you were having a rough day! The last time I went over 10 months sober when I got the ridiculous idea I could control my drinking. Only had one the first couple times, a couple the next and so on until I was out of control again in a few weeks. But now I finally get it too, that I’m powerless over alcohol. Should have it tattooed on the inside of my eyelids, but guess that’s why we meet here, at AA, Refuge Recovery and other recovery groups. To remind us so we never forget again...

Beware of isolation. That’s where the thought of drinking comes in.

This post is the reason why you go to AA. People there understand. Not many do.

AA is a life saver when "life" seems a burden and I cannot escape it's demands. I have a strong belief the individuals at the local group I go to have all the answers I will ever need to manage and function effectively as a recovered alcoholic. My family, God love them, doesn't always have those answers, nor should they, however, the friends God placed in my path at the group I go to, often allow me to feel better, hear the truth consistently, and most importantly make me laugh for major relief when life is just too much.

I have to remember, I have no power over alcohol, in all areas mental, physical, and spiritual, but God and AA does, and are also more than happy to give me as much power as I need to stay sober without a demand or request in return!

Heaven on earth as far as I am concern. The road less traveled often leads to the greatest treasure!
