Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Standard AA topic ...
I almost skipped over this post until later ... because
I have a little time in AA, & I know a lot about ' resentments.'
WRONG ! ... thank you again ...
the way you laid it out and presented it ...
busted right through my self appointed ...
... I know plenty about 'resentment' status.
This was something I needed to hear this a.m.
Thanks for sharing ... fabulous !

Defiantly didn't post this to defend AA"s position , just life in general.
That's when I gained a new perspective. Up to that point, I thought the world was out to get me. I discovered that the only person out to get me was me! I definitely would not have worked up to that level of self examination had I not walked into the rooms of AA.
The longer I stay sober, the more I come to realize exactly what you said.
It's been an eye opener, how much of the misery in my life was all in my hands. But realizing this and acting to correct this behavior has had such sweet rewards.
Thanks for sharing.
IMO resentment is a lack of gratitude - and overly indulgence in expectations - we are not guaranteed perfection here on earth and no matter how we change our lives, no how much of the right things we do - we are not "owed" anything and if others have more, get more, and life seems easier for them, then so be it.
you can not have peace in your heart or be truly happy if you have resentment.
peace!
Now, I choose to only keep the non-toxic people in my life. I've had enough of the toxic ones.
Lots to think about. b
Just did some writing last week as a matter of fact and just getting it out, asking myself if I had ever done what was done to me before and what my part was in all of it helped immensely! Resentments are like gas, gotta get it out, there's more room out than in. :)
When this appeared in my inbox yesterday it was just what I needed. I forwarded it to someone and told them that, no matter what they had done, I held no resentment with them and it was all about growth.
Then today....I had another Hazelden that really hit the mark. How do they do that?
Yep, I try not to pick them up and when I do, I work on them and try to get rid (work through and step 10). It is up to me whether I carry the bricks or not. !
