Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Life is suppose to be enjoyed!
All of us are seeking happiness and peace. We get stuck when we avoid the only place this is possible. Being our own best friend.
Avoiding the deep connection with ourselves sends us reaching for external things to try and fill our soul. It’s pointless.... Love yourself, learn to take care of yourself. I know you’re young but it’s time to look toward discovering what maturity is.
I will let you in on a secret. We’re all afraid of change. We will do just about anything to resist it. However (and here’s the secret) when we surrender to the fact that all life is is change and don’t fight it then the relief is better than any fleeting substance use. It’s a peace that you can foster in your life and it will build into true health.
Trust me, I know. I feared change and drank for nearly two decades. Now I embrace it and my life has never been better.
As young as you are you have a wisdom inherent in you that you need to listen to. Be open and honest with yourself. Then ask a question out loud about what you should do and I guarantee that you will instantly know the answer. It may not be the comfortable answer but it will be the truth.
Whatever damage you may have done is done. It’s time to create a new life for yourself. Exercise, eat well. Drink plenty of water. Before you know it you will feel different. And others will be inspired.
Just love yourself and everything else will sort itself out.
There is a good life waiting for you. Please find that little spark of courage inside of you to welcome emotional healing. I think you have it inside of you to seek help, you are here aren't you? People use substances for a reason. If you can figure out why you needed the release of the drug/paint, you will be able to work on your healing. We have emotional pain for a variety of reasons and if you can figure out why you need this drug or any drug and how to work on building a new you, you will continue on your wise journey. You deserve to have a good life and I know you can do this. I also hear wisdom within you. Your soul longs to be healthy, and I believe in you that you can do this. Yes, it will be hard at times.
The reason we don't want to stop using our drug of choice is because using affects the brain and so we have these old neuropathways that crave for the same old stimulus that was the drug of choice. Your brain can learn to do new things. Sometimes with that particular drug, the brain does have some damage and so it is a hard one to kick. But you can achieve a good life for yourself.
Are you going to a physical rehab or a drug abuse rehab? Just asking because you have been in the hospital a while. I would encourage you to take advantage of all the rehab has to offer and get information on brain health disorders. Take your medications and keep talking to the psychiatrist and therapists or social workers until you feel the meds are correct for you. Go to the support groups for addictions that are offered. You still have a long life to live and you will likely have to choose every day to NOT use any drugs or alcohol but you can do this. There is research that young brains and addictions have a harder time avoiding more addictions later in life but you can achieve this with help and setting your mind to it. When you get out of the rehab, attend an AA or NA support meeting and ask the older guys to give you their phone numbers and sponsor and mentor you. Be open and talk to them. Find someone who is mature and sober and knows what it is like to be in your shoes, or close to it anyway.
I wish you the best and am going to pray for your continued healing and courage. You so deserve to grab this new start and new chance. Life is often hard for all of us but you can overcome and achieve a content life.
Not knowing what to do is a much better starting point than thinking you know everything, and not wanting to know anything else. I know it doesn't feel like it, but you're already winning not fighting the rehab solution at such an early age.
God Bless.
You have a good job
You have a roof
You have a family

There are moments in life where the window opens, the window will shut and you are stuck in the disease. Jump thru that rehab window. Go or die!
