Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

You have a lot of different issues there and as I see it, you need to separate them out and deal with each problem individually. Try not to bunch them all together as it then becomes a huge mess that looks impossible to solve. With the right approach and a bit of help you can do it.
First of all, give yourself a great big pat on the back for being drink and drug free for 11 years that is a great achievement and something to be proud about. Maybe you have not yet tackled those things that make you unhappy about yourself, those life issues that caused you to escape into alcohol and drugs and that are now leading you to gambling. Are you getting professional help with your mental health problems? Sorting through the things that trouble you is going to take commitment and a willingness to change. There are different paths that you can follow and your doctor will advise you on some of the options. My suggestion to you is to take a look at the AA Twelve Step programme as it will enable you to change the way that you think about yourself.
You can tackle the weight problem and loneliness in one go by joining a weight loss or keep fit group. Again, with commitment on your part you can start fitting into those clothes that you thought you would never wear again. When you start to feel good about yourself you will be more willing to interact with other people and who knows what waits around the corner.
Dont be too proud to accept help from wherever you can get it. The St. Vincent de Paul Society will help you with short term basics such as food and fuel. Take a look at their website as it has a lot of information on how to apply for help. You can also call or email them on:
Tel: 020 7703 3030
Email: info@svp.org.uk
Your Citizens Advice Office will advise you on the best way of dealing with your debt. This is something that you cannot ignore and you will probably need help to sort it out. Take a look at their website below where you can chat online to one of their advisors:

Do you have family members who could help you out?
Many people have been where you are now and they have turned their lives around. You can do it too. Remember, tackle each problem on its own and dont bunch them together. Start today and you will see immediate progress. Good Luck.
It won't be easy in the beginnng but if you put forth an honest effort, the sky's the limit and you can be happier then you have ever been, if your work for it.
God Bless
Just like an alcohol or drug addiction, there is no need to feel ashamed about admitting that you have a gambling problem, providing that you are willing to do something about it. You have taken a big step forward in admitting it here so now you can take it further and look for help in the right places.
It may be useful for you to check out GamCare. Although I know nothing about them, their website seems to offer good support for people in the UK who have a gambling problem. They have a Freephone number and an online forum so you dont need to go to any meetings. This is how they describe what they do:
GamCare is the leading national provider of information, advice, support and free counselling for the prevention and treatment of problem gambling. Our expert services are confidential and non-judgemental.
