When I first put down the drink and people offered me a drink I would say no thanks I am quitting or trying to cut down or other responses. However, in good intention these people would encourage me to just have one, more than likely they did not understood what happened to me when I had that ONE drink. How could they I did not understand it. Having said that there was always a mental battle when I said I am quitting/cutting back etc.

Was talking to a wiser head about this problem when this wiser head said to me from now on just tell them 'I do not drink'. And any response the other person offered just reply I become the broken track, I do not drink, not even one.

This alleviated that battle with others but the really curious and better benefit was how I started to think about myself. I stopped thinking of myself of someone quitting the drink and I started thinking I do not drink.

Even when the thought came to me to have a drink instead of I am quitting drink coming to my mind the words came I do not drink which for me is a more powerful statement for me.
