Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I understand you do certain steps again with the new sponsor but....as Brian said, that could be beneficial.
But I'm still in almost daily contact with another sober friend (he has almost 24 years and I have 20) and mostly we just shoot the breeze and trade gossip. But we know each other's foibles well enough that we can tell just from tones of voice when either one of us is getting off the beam.
Which of us is the sponsor? Darned if I know and he doesn't even use the word.
Since I met her at an area meeting, and we don't go to any meetings in common, I very rarely see her now that I have completed my Steps with her. I still feel completely free to call her anytime I have trouble and can't figure it things out myself or with the help of others that I see regularly. We just don't have that close, day-to-day relationship I hear others have with their sponsors. It's the people I see at meetings that call me on my shit or can tell if I'm getting squirrely. But when it's time to redo my Steps especially 4 and 5, she will be the one I call.
