Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

And it hasn't been pretty.
In fact, it's become pretty ugly, lonely and unhealthy.
Even the subject of this thread is a lazy & loathsome excuse.
Pain & I
Are old friends. Perhaps my only friend, but that is not right either. I have friends that could become closer than acquaintances. My wife is my closest, longest & best friend. I need to reach out to her for help conquering my alcoholism. Today will be water even though there is tequila on the counter. It will stay there to taunt me. Booze brain will try and talk me into rationalizations. Then another part of my cognitive brain shuts down and let's the worse thing happen. Then I am all alone with my Pain. I must overcome for and with love for others.
The more you are focused on yourself, the lonelier you will become.
It is time for medical intervention. I'm calling my doctor on Monday for an appointment to discuss options.
Thank you for listening.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Thing was I relied upon alcohol to cope with life, both bad and good
I too tried a million times to quit. Only when a dr told me I was going to die if I didn't quit did I finally got honest and admitted I was an alcoholic and sought help
It is possible

For me, a much better idea would be to dump it down the drain.
You see, my alcoholism was much like Mike Tyson. Mike kept calling me into the ring to fight - called me a pussy, a coward, a weakling if I didn't prove that I was stronger and tougher than him. So I kept tying on my boxing gloves and stepping into the ring, time and time, with hopes that this time I could get a knock-out and shut him up for good. But time after time, I crawled out of the ring, bloodied, battered and broken.
Until I turned my back to the ring, threw down my gloves and completely walked away. Mike Tyson might be stronger and tougher than me, but I have almost 12 years on continuous sobriety. And that makes me the champion...
In an act of desparation, I prayed. I didn't know what to do or where to go. I didn't even think God heard me, until a series of events took place which I never could have predicted. Everything fell into place, like someone upstairs was manipulating the pieces of my life like a puzzle. This made me look at the bigger picture of "what is the meaning of life and why are we here"!
I discovered that meaning through the 12 steps of AA, Every one of the AA 12 Promises have come true for me, in my life! I have never been happier.
Being honest with my Doctor did alot for me and that was the beginning of my recovery.
God Bless
That being said, it also takes a little bit of adjustment to your mentality and what you view as important to your life. My job is stressful, and I've been doing it for a long time. But I think I've gotten to the stage where I'm not going to let it "run me" Night and day. Within a few years after I'm gone from this world, no one is going to remember my job performance from a specific date in time.
But I think I had to quit the alcohol consumption, in order to calm down enough to realize this.
Thank you, I am committed to keep trying.
I remember waking up (thank god) many times thinking oh no what have I done! Get plenty of sleep and try to eat a little something. Gatorade and vitamin B also helped me. Nothing is permanent and this too will pass. Learn to Love yourself because that is the first step to completely stopping alcohol intake. Alcohol is a poison and we don't poison people we love. I'm still working on it and everyday I don't use alcohol I feel the Love a little more.
Best to You
