What's your opinion on the whole election thing? Is this coalation idea a good one or a bad one?
You guys tend to be much better educated about our "den of theives" I mean our politics than we do about yours but I try to keep up. Especially since our last president got poor Tony Blair fired!
Our two parties are like maffia or gangs essentially, collectively stealing us blind while pretending to compete with one another. In effect we have a coalition government, it's just a coalition of outlaws. Hopefully, your situation is better if it goes that way.
Two of the greatest countries in the world still, but both on slippery slopes.

Ahhh, Dontread, I like like your Libertarian philosophy! Yes, we have coalitions here.....we just don't call it by name and we pretend it's not happening.

Right Jack. People will probably be pissed at me for calling it that , but that's exactly what it is.
Hell, they've even built in clauses so that one party isn't really in charge unless they get 60-61 precent control of the senate, which pretty much never happens! Assuring the coalition.

General thaught tends to be , whoever lib dems decide to go to bed with will be a poisoned challice for labour or conservative. National debt means widespread impending measures. Main topics NHS which we all get medical care without bills.

I believe ..The coalition will hinge on electoral reform .. The Lib Dems will support which ever party will support proportional representation.

We will probably have another election before the year is out.. In reality gone are the Thatcher / Wilson / Foot days and you'd be pushed to get a cigarette paper between their policies.

One of our biggest worries is that a hung parliament gives uncertainty in the financial sector, so the pound will slip..

I'm going fir a lie down now ... lol

no kirreie, I was saying that following Bush into Iraq got Blair voted out, but I may be wrong.
What is it about the world that countries can't run within their means ? I don't know if anybody is. Debt is a posion we've tolerated way too long

Dontread .. I font think it was that ... It was (is) his ambition to head up Europe, so he gave reigns to Brown... Ergo our current Prine Minister was not voted into power..

Either way Gordon is a gonner, not viable as he has a pact with SNP in scottish parley. deffo not compatable with lib dems. Labour only viable if he hands over reigns.

I agree as to get to the point of FPTP electoral rules he need plaid Cymru as well as SNP.. Both are looking to divest themselves of England, . But they are unable as insufficient taxation revenue to be self ruling ..

First vote of no confidence will result in another election..

My mistake .. I meant Wales have insufficient tax streams .. All grants now finished..however Kirrie, look into self generation of Scottish tax revenues v taxation bill on Scotland ..

Here in America our federal government has long outgrown it's Constitutional limitations and neither of the "two major gangs" has the slightest desire to change that.
