ashley, it is so flattering for most recovering alkis to have another one ask them for help. Believe me, she would love to do this (unless she is a creep-dont think bro would do that though)

(hell though, be careful of that damn phone getting you-them things are scary!)

Hey Ashley, sometimes our pride stops us from reaching out when we know it is the best thing. I am still not good at calling people but one thing I find helpful is to call first off when I dont feel needy......just to say hi and get used to doing it. It is the hardest thing for me to pick up the 'ten ton phone'.

AA is all about one alcoholic helping another stay sober. You help the old timers just as they will help you. It is a two way street and gets you off the lonely one way street you are currently on.

You can do it :)

You will be helping her to stay sober just as much as she will be helping you to become sober. That's the beauty of this program.

learning to reach out to others is one thing us alkies aren't used to doing because we want to be able to take care of things ourselves but look where that got us. It doesn't feel natural at first and is awkward but will get easier each time. It's what the program is all about, helping each other and not being alone anymore. best wishes
