Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Hello! I was on this site several months ago and only made it 3 days without a drink. I convinced myself I couldnt do it. I have always been a functioning alcoholic. But just thinking back to the way this has progressed....A few years ago only 3 or 4 onces of rum would make me drunk. Now I can drink half a fifth in an evening. I am 31. I stay at home and drink to deal with stress, to make a good time better, etc. you name it, I have a reason to drink. Lately though, I have fallen into the darker side of drinking. My husband took a video of me going off on him for the stupidest thing that normally I would never have been that upset about. I was yelling and crying and at the time I thought I was so justified and what I had to say was so important. When I saw the person I was on that video I was sick. Somehow the drinking to have fun over the years slowly turned into mornings apologizing to my husband, hangovers, always being tired, stressed, and broke. I have wanted to quit drinking for years. I have a wonderful husband and he is very forgiving but I have realized that alcohol is really starting to take over. I think about it, look forward to it, think this time will be different for some reason. that it wont end up with me crying about something stupid and calling a friend and talking their ear off saying things I shouldnt have said. Alcohol is a nightly thing for me. It blinded me of everything I wasnt dealing with. Enough is enough. I cant believe Ive made it 9 days. Well, this day isnt over but this is the furthest I have ever gotten. I have been eating super healthy. Lost 5 pounds since Thanksgiving, working out, and living. I wake up feeling amazing, not trying to guzzle water and take vitamins just to feel "okay" until the evening roles around. I wish I jnew how to make the evening easier during the times I would normally drink. Its really hard. I am in utter amazement of anyone who can kick this addiction. It takes every fiber of your being to stay away. I saw about 15 alcohol commercials last night while watching tv. ugh. I made it though!

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Congratulations on a good start – now try to build on that foundation.
What I found many years ago was that I could not win for as long as I was fighting alcoholism. Once I admitted and then accepted that I could not drink safely, I became willing to do whatever it would take in order to change my thinking.
I wrongly believed that it would be impossible to stay sober. Today, I spent several hours in a bar and never once thought about drinking. The change was due to following the suggestions of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Do you accept that you cannot drink safely?
Are you willing to go to any lengths for recovery?
It was causing more problems than it was worth. I decided on a Sunday like today that I was done. That was the best decision of my life
You can get sober too Cmon@!

So let the light guide your way, hold every memory as you go.
And every road you take will always lead you home."

So keep moving forward, one day at a time!
God Bless!
I wish you all the best in staying sober for not just the whole 9 days, but 15 days and then 30 days and so on and so on. I hope I can make it as long as you can.
