Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
For many of us here, casual drinking gave way to serious abuse when a series of circumstances and stressors came into our lives. Still others here never had a normal relationship with alcohol, like me, and after decades of abuse finally decided they had enough.
Regardless of how we came together, we all agreed that alcohol had left our lives unmanageable, that we couldn't go on living with the shame and guilt of what had become a costly addiction.
You made a brave step coming here today. Sounds like you're ready for a change in your life, to lose that shitty feeling and handle life without falling back on alcohol.
For now I'd kindly suggest that you focus on your recovery, let go of any other distractions like shame or guilt that are likely to arise. Participate in forums here, make friends and share the struggles ahead, because there will be many.
But rest assured, you can do this. And when you do, you'll be able to handle anything that comes down the road without the crutch of alcohol.
Wishing you the best and please stay in touch!
Kevin
