Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Married with kids, one day at a time my friend.
You'll find quite the treasure trove of experience here. The people are great, and are always happy to offer support, answer questions, etc.!
Happy to meet you. Good luck and stay strong! :)
It sounds like you are going to try strength of will for sobriety, certainly we all have to find what works best for ourselves. Good to hear you are sober since Tuesday!
Why are you drinking so much is the question to ask your self? Find the answer to that and it will make it much easier
It breaks down that little self-restraint you have and you are off and running - "just this time" - you won't overdo it just this time, etc., etc. and you are off to the races. We don't stop - once we start.
And then we get belligerent and its all over - no one can tell us to stop. At least that's the way I was.
Im 40 and sober since june of 2012
Glad you are here. I was in a death sprial and drinking a 12 plus many shots. EVERY DAY. one day I asked for some help and my friend gave me directions to a room with other alchys. We help each other in good and bad times. I had to learn the way to live.. I am so much happier that i did
good luck and one thing is alchohol has sugar so when you get a craving drink a coke or a choc shake or candy. Just .02 and i suggest some face to face interaction. we as alcholics are not one to ask for help we got this... well I tried so many times and finally had to admit i needed help.
glad you are on the sober bus.....HANG ON!
1IS2MANY
It narrows down to " because we're alcoholic". One is roo many and coming a thousand never enough.
The AA program helped me realize the dis - ease of alcoholism.
Sober since Tuesday -- good for you! I was an everyday drinker and i found the first days to be a shock to my system -- both physically and mentally.
The best advice i got was to drink lots of water or juice, especially in the late afternoon when i was really started to crave a drink. Make sure you eat well, and light exercise will help as well. You might feel fuzzy-brained, anxious and irritable -- that's okay.
Stick with it -- it is worth it!
I have found these forums to be quite helpful, with advice and experience I am newly sober and sticking with it. It sounds like you have good motivation, I wrote down all the reasons I wanted to quit and every time I got a craving I would read them, and hop on these forums to remind me of the positive change I was making
good luck to you!
