Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Hi everyone. I am brand new here and not quite sure how the group works but thought I’d go ahead and introduce myself. To be completely honest, I’m actually hungover and so tired of feeling like this. I used to be able to control my drinking but something has happened over the past few years and I realize I have a problem. I’m truly in need of some peer support but bc of my profession, I can’t join a group in my community. I still don’t know if I can completely quit but I so want to be sober. Looking forward to getting to know folks here.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I got sober in the rooms of AA. I understand if you feel you can't attend meetings due to your profession, but perhaps purchase and read the basic recovery text of AA - Alcoholics Anonymous - to get insight on alcoholism and recovery.
PS. I've seen doctors, attorneys, LEO's, teachers, etc in the rooms of AA. We are all there for the same reason - we have a "drinking" problem and we want to get help to quit drinking permanently.

One day I walked in. It’s now like walking into Starbucks and seeing a friend. You’re both there for the coffee.
If you want to quit, and I’m not sure you do yet, I’d find AA.
I remember when I first thought about quitting. I was worried about what others would think of me so I continued drinking and self destructing with the bottle. Finally, I hit my low. I lost my job, my wife was ready to crucify me, and I had severe financial problems. That was when I went into detox through no choice of my own. I was forced to go by law enforcement. Then came my introduction to AA which saved my life. That was 10 years ago this feb. Today I have a great life and I have never been happier.
Don't worry about what others think of you. To me, going to AA is like going to the doctor. I was being treated for the disease of alcoholism and it has worked for millions. It will work for you to if you want it.
God Bless
