Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

It may be good for you to attend Alanon meetings as well. There are lots of alcoholics that have/had alcoholic partners.
This is a good first place to stop with a lot of support from people with varying methods of success.
Concentrate on your recovery. Acceptance is important. You need to accept him as he is.

I'm sorry Christmas turned out the way it did but at this point you need to look out for yourself. My mom warned me and then she threatened and finally when she decided that enough was enough, she sent my kids away. That's when I decided that she was right and enough was enough and decided that I was going to get sober. I was sober for a little more than 4 years and then I blew it and relapsed. This time around I have been sober for 9 months and I have no intentions of relapsing. I went through and got rid of everything in my house that has even a trace of alcohol in it. I don't even have mouth wash that has alcohol in it. I don't want to ever get to a point where things get really bad and that becomes a temptation. NOPE! Got rid of all of it about 2 months ago. Won't buy anymore either. You can only change you. I know how hard it can be but rest assured that you did the right thing for you. Good luck to you and i hope to see you around more!! Hang in there.
Early sobriety was really hard; and as I see others go through it I'm reminded of how hard and painful it is. Its worth it though and so are you. You deserve sobriety.
Find an AA group and just keep going to them until you find one to call home.

Strike out on your own if the neighbour is shy of taking action, just get the info on your local meetings and go. The sooner you do, the sooner you will establish yourself in your new community and that will become very important to you. You might even want to try some Al-Anon meetings if your feelings regarding leaving your ex are particularly raw right now, a wealth of information and support could be yours there too.
I admire your courage and your commitment to keeping sobriety your number one priority, it's the most precious gift you can give yourself.
I naively thought, that if I quit drinking, he would follow suite. I also thought that if I left, he would get a "wake up call". Actually, he's only gotten worse in my absence. The liquors that caused us the most problems, because he would get extremely mean, are now back in the apartment (Jager and whiskey). I went by the apartment yesterday to get a few things and he put on a very good show. All the liquor bottles were put away. He'd cleaned and done laundry. He put on the air that me being gone didn't affect him. Not one bit. Which hurt me even more.
I'm doing my best to stay positive and only think of myself. I also feel very guilty. UGH!!!!!
The sad truth is he may Not quit. He needs to hit rock bottom. Sounds like you are putting you first and in a safe place.
