Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Hey all. Looking forward to meeting new people and cutting this ball and chain from my life. Alcohol is one the few things that I cannot control. I'm not a huge drinker, but once or twice a week is enough to do me in. Recovery time is a full day at least, and it's a crutch I have to learn to live without. The only problem is this: When I'm drinking I'm the funnest guy in the room. When I'm not, I don't care to socialize at all. Hope this changes. Cheers.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

That was 9 years ago. Today i have a great life and I have never been happier!
God Bless
You are very welcome to the DS forum.
When I was drinking, I could list many reasons why life without alcohol would be somewhere between difficult and impossible. What I did not know at the time is that excessive alcohol consumption distorts your way of thinking and in many ways, I was out of touch with reality.
I could also be the funniest guy in the room but there is often a thin line between having people laughing with you or laughing at you. Today, I don’t have to go out of my way to try and impress other people and I don’t have to be the centre of attention. Through the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, I have learned to be happy with the person that I am and that brings a great sense of freedom. I have also come to observe that no matter what you do in this world, you cannot please everyone, and in the eyes of some people you will be wrong.
It can all change for you and putting the cork in the bottle is a good starting point. You may now need to explore ways of changing your thinking so that the allure of drinking becomes a thing of the past.

I’m sure the old timers will recognize you and see that you’re walking in on your own.
