Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself. I've struggled with alcohol for about 15 years and tried to get sober many times. In October my husband filed for divorce and I decided to go to an 8 week inpatient rehab. It was the best decision I ever made. I am grateful every day that I can wake up and respect myself in the morning, lol. Just know that if you're struggling, you CAN do it! I used to read words like these and go yeah, right....but you really can. I was actually scared to quit drinking. But it's much scarier not remembering what you said or did the previous night than it is to be sober. Anyway, thank you all for reading my post and I'm glad to be here.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I'd be happy to go into detail if anyone would be interested, but I'll just say that it was an incredible experience. I cried the whole way there -- I was leaving my 4 kids, and despite the fact that 3 were high school seniors, it was really emotional. I was terrified of the unknown. When I first got there, I went into dissociative mode -- I was just so overwhelmed I couldn't process it all -- but after a day or two I settled down. I was grieving my divorce (still am) and trying to get sober at the same time, which was difficult. But in retrospect, it was the best place to process that pain; I had support and counselors and was in the company of some wonderful new friends.
If anyone is considering rehab, I highly recommend it....but do your research first!!! There are some scams out there. If anyone has questions, feel free to message me. :-)
I did outpatient as opposed to inpatient but the therapies used are roughly the same with inpatient being a little better in the long run.
