Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
in all honesty I'm an alcoholic. I've known for a long time. Everyone's known. Here I sit this thanksgiving feeling lost alone and in despair. I blacked out again this evening for a few hours. A few hours to many. Don't even know if I said good night to my son before he left for work this evening. I need help! How do I get myself out of this cage I've put myself into? I'm so scared to go to a meeting. I don't know how AA works. I just moved here a few months ago and I don't know anyone. I keep drinking to find the courage to move forward. I wish I had someone I could talk to. I wish I had a friend! I don't want to be this person anymore. I want to be me again without alcohol!

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

AA is a welcoming place for many who have alcoholism but for some it is not...women should be sticking with women when they get to AA rather than socializing with men whose primary objective is to get laid...I say that kiddingly but they talk of 13th stepping where the men or women go out of their way to get into new relationship with a newcomer to AA....that is bad and it is recommended that no new relationships happen sexually within the first year of sobriety.....
I would go to a meeting if you have no idea what they are like...pick one that is convenient of course to your home....then meet some of the same sex....and stick with the winners who share things that are helpful to you

I just got back from the first AA meeting I've been to in a few weeks. I was reminded how hard it was to go through those doors the first time in March of 2011 every time I take meetings for granted, don't go for a while, and sort of get out of the "groove" so to speak. I have heard many times that our disease wants us dead but will settle for isolated and drunk...I don't know about that. But I do know that many alchi's I meet are like you, and like me..we isolate when in our disease. So what's amazing is when you go into an AA room most everyone there will*relate* to how you feel. Its one of the miracles of AA.
Try a meeting! If it doesnt feel right; try another, and so on. check back in and tell us how it goes.
I started to share then froze up. THe whole meeting was staring at me and I couldn't come out with a sentence. I did better last night but thjat is now.
God Bless!
