Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I have a friend... We've been friends since we were like 9. On my paper route I ran into him on some side street and he kicked my ass. He bloodied me good... Punched me square in the face and we became friends like that many years ago.
We hung around alot during my teens... Did alot of drugs... and then in my 20s I met a girl and we just kinda stopped hanging out for many years... Someone gave me his number around 4 years ago and I started hanging out with him again.
I guess my point is I really know this guy... We're pretty close, but right now I'm really feeling no love for him.
Ya see this guy drinks to live and lives to drink. Sounds kinda clich'e but thats how it is.
He has a twenty something son who is slightly mentally disabled whom he constantly berates calling him a "fuckin piece of shit " and a "retard" all day every day. His son has used my home as a respite over the past two weekends to escape the abuse of his father. I have a friend who says I should contact the Department of Developmental Services but I'm afraid to get too involved.
I don't know what to do. The story goes much deeper than I have the energy to even write.
The kid spent the last 4 days lazing around watching movies in my home. His father just came to get him and started bitching as soon as he walked in the door, so I stood up for what I think is right and asked them to leave.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Good luck.
On the other hand, It’s a hard call not knowing if your friend is using his sons disability pension to feed his addiction as well. That may become apparent should you decide to have the discussion. In that case, have you considered giving the young lad the number to call for assistance?
Just some thoughts.
Thanks for all the great advice. I can see that the knee jerk reaction was to report my friend. After much thought I've chosen to disengage instead. And then there is also psychobabble. Guess I asked for it. I asked for help. My own fault. I thought you guys could help me with a difficult decision, but I guess that was a silly idea to begin with.
