hello to all you wonderful people on ds. i havent been on this site as much as i used to when i first joined, but i thought id update my recovery journey a little bit and pass on a bit of my story. i first sobered up in oct of 2007, and stayed sober for almost two and a half years. However, i didnt fully engage myself in the program..half measures i suppose. My lack of grasping the twelve step suggestions led to an eventual relapse. i went back out into that hell hole but made it back in. this time around, i became willing to do whatever it took to not only stay sober, but more than that i wanted to grow. i studied the big book, i read alot of the available aa literature, and most importantly, i reached out for help. it was when i realized that i couldnt do it alone, that my life started to change. i started praying more often...once i opened up to my higher power, things really started to happen... i began to receive messages from him and he sent me angels in aa that took me under their wing...taught me about the program...guided me and supported me... i met the incredible sponsor i have today... it was only since i found my aa family that i have been able to flourish and grow. i am so thankful for this beautiful,spiritual program. Its kept me sober for another year,(dec 11 yay!) and i am truly growing and changing into a much better person :)
