Almost everything we post is for public consumption on the internet. I use my middle name (which I hate). I would never use my actual name. There are people who don't mind and that's fine with them. I mind. Hmmm, drafter, I don't know if changing settings keeps you off google or not??? Let us know what you work out. At any rate, many people come to yoga when they have problems in their lives. Be it alcohol, eating disorders, anxiety, depression... you name it. For a person who considers yoga a lifestyle this would be a usual thing. Wanting balance in your life through a yoga practice and practice of principles. Sure, there is a community that does it solely for fitness but they're still getting benefits they're not aware of. Don't sweat it too much.

I don't think you CAN remove it from a web search. Do you know how many people who do this? Go online and look for someone? I know a lot of people. It doesn't interest me but it interests over 1/2 the people I know. I would say 'I am a recovering alcoholic and I did use yoga to help with my recovery. It's that powerful of a healing tool.' I've told many people who know me how I keep my eating disorder, panic, anxiety and alcoholism leveled out: my yoga practice both on and off the mat.

OK, cool. That's a big DS improvement! Just do what drafter is telling you and you should be a-ok!

If you wish to close your account, then close your account.

If drafter is saying you can remove yourself from search engines then you can do the same thing on facebook depending on your settings. Even if you deleted your profile I don't know if it stays online or not. If we don't want people to know then we need to be careful about who we reveal our identities to. You certainly can request that your profile be deleted and then create an alternate. I don't know if this solves the issue. Did you try what drafter suggested?

Ok, here we go. You can make you profile, hugbook and journal entries private. That is it.

Now, since you used your real name, you kinda messed up. Your posts can still be found in a search engine no matter what. To remedy this, you can close your account and start a new one. This time, make up a name.

Your old posts under your real name will still be searchable on google etc for a time. Eventually they will no longer be picked up.
