I really like my counselor...She is 27 years sober,still going to AA.I think only person who been through alcoholism understand another alcoholic.

I agree with you on a personal level. Thats what makes this program work. One alcoholic reaching out to another alcoholic. There are those too who need to seek outside counseling. We have to remember that alcohol consumption is but a symptom of our disease. Grave emotional and mental disorders need that outside help.

Good for you! My first therapist was also in recovery, during the beginning of my sobriety. It helped me more than you know!

I'm with you there about one alcoholic understanding another. It's just like me a male saying to a pregnant woman i know exactly what your going through and this is what it feels like to give birth. As long as I am standing i will have no Idea. It doesn't mean i can't be of help with what knowledge i have on the subject But i will never understand.

That's why i go to AA and not the Lions Club or the local Fire Station or the School Fate to talk about my alcoholism i go to AA meetings where people understand.

It's good it's working with you and your Counselor.

I'm glad you like your counselor!!!!! I love therapy!!!! I had a therapist that I really 'clicked' with, too!!!
