Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Hi, I've not drunk for almost a month. I now go to AA which is good for me but my problem is my husband. I think hes alcoholic too. He drinks from the time he comes in till bed. Hes also depressed. He tried to pick a fight with me calling me horrible names and saying hes either going to leave me or kill himself. I feel scared and its horrible for the kids. He will still prob be like it in the morning.
He works hard and is a good man. He feels like me and the kids just take from him but I work all I can between school runs etc and dont spend anything on myself.
I feel so miserable but haven't drunk and don't even want to. Imagine how toxic it would be if I did.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

If you feel threatened, get help for you and your children to stay away from him.
You can try, but you know as well as I telling someone they are an alcoholic doesn't work. Showing us consequences for our actions works...

That said, if he's talking about killing himself == I'd get out. Not much between being desperate enough to kill oneself and harming your kids or you.
I wouldnt subject my children to that not for one moment.
I'd take the kids and get them somewhere safe and stable. If he get's help, and get's sober, then perhaps. But this doesnt sound stable let alone safe.
First of all, well done on one month sober and going to AA hopefully you will be starting to see now how good life can be without alcohol. Problems dont disappear however just because you stop drinking but you can face them with a clear head and make better decisions.
Your husband may feel threatened by your sobriety and if he has a problem himself you not drinking is putting the focus on him. The safety of your children and yourself are paramount so if you think that you may be in danger have a plan in place for dealing with it. That may be something as simple as having a bag packed and some money set aside in case you have to make a quick exit. It probably will never come to that and hopefully you can get your husband when he is sober and in a good mood and have an honest talk. Remember that people who have a problem with alcohol often dont see it as a problem and dont like being told about it. Sometimes the best thing that you can do is raise the question in a non-confrontational way and leave the other person to think about it.
By not drinking you are putting yourself in a good position to deal with the problem. It may be that Al-Anon would help or some form of counselling or some trusted go-between who could mediate between the two of you. The bottom line is that you cannot get your husband sober but you can learn how to react in the correct way and grow in your own sobriety.
Hopefully things will be better in the morning.
I just want to emphasize what the others have said and that is for you to attend al anon meetings. It's very important that you get as much support as you can because your kids depend on a sober mom!
God Bless!
