Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Hi Everyone --
As I sit and think about my drinking I realize that it usually starts (and ends) with sitting on the couch watching TV.
I have already made a list of more productive things to do with my evenings so I can change my routine of TV and drinking.
In addition to this one very important change (not drinking) I was thinking about cutting out coffee and soda as well and just drinking seltzer or water. What are your thoughts on that? Is trying to make many changes at once a good idea or bad?
Thanks
Rich

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I have friends who quit drinking and smoking at the same time. They figured, "What the heck, I am going to break my addictions and get healthy. I'm going for it."
So it depends on how you feel -- quitting soda should be fine. Quitting caffeine might give you headaches, so you can either quit now and deal with the headaches on top of any alcohol withdrawal symptoms, or hold off and continue to drink coffee, at least for now. Definitely quit soda if you can -- bothe sugarfree and regular soda is bad.
Easy does it

Coffee and soda don't do the kind of damage that alcohol do, nowhere near!
Good Luck!
Funny you mention the beverage thing, because I wanted to poll this support group to find their favorite non-alc beverage out of curiosity.
Don't think you really need to change your beverage choices too much, unless you're consuming caffeinated coffee or sodas by the gallon....
Wishing you continued success!
