Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I live rurally and our AA meetings are small, usually under 15 or 20 people and sometimes on 5-6.
These days it seems that I am surrounded by a lot of sobriety , sometimes more of us with 20 plus years than those with less. We also have some newcomers, thank God.
We seem to draw precious few middle timers . There's no solid way to define exactly what I mean by middle timers but say those with 3-10 years?
We all have a vital role to play in our meetings , the "old timers" provide experience and stability the new comers give us the gift of being able to carry the message, keep it green and watch the growth and remember and assure the programs future.
But, I always felt the middle timers , provided much of the energy of AA, organizing events, dealing with inter group, car pooling new comers all over hell's half acre to meetings, hitting the coffee shops after meetings and making 12th step calls in the middle of the night. Or at least that's how it used to be.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

years.
I know around where I live there is not considered to be a lot of long term clean time in NA. One of the counsellors in the treatment centre I went to was in NA and at 16years sober (at the time) he was considered a very old timer. At some meetings if you have five years you are a demi god.
When I moved to a college town....it was just a Dating game drama....so sad..I drank and moved.I honestly felt I could not contribute..almost all were pressured into it..and made it clear they would drink again....I felt that thinking was a poor choice for my health.
I will try a closed meeting here soon, miss the people
Quite a few first anniversaries coming up which is kinda cool.
