Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Not good. Fortunately, you can get back on track tomorrow.
Welker was an awesome receiver as a Patriot.
If you can't either, then do something about it.
Everyday, every moment, I have to tell myself NO ALCOHOL, that was in the past.
Sooner or later, we will learn, hopefully.
U will be ok, today is a new day.
My starting point was that I loved drinking, even when it was making me violently sick and I had no intention of stopping. It came to a point where I knew that I had to quit or face some very unpleasant consequences so reluctantly I decided to get sober. It was not a decision that I took lightly as my whole life revolved around alcohol but I was absolutely determined to quit as there really was no other choice. I then discovered that I could not stay sober on my own no matter how hard I tried, although I know some people can do that. With even more reluctance I accepted that alcohol had me beaten and that I needed help. I decided to get some counselling but pride would not allow me to go through the usual channels which would involve talking honestly with the local doctor. When all hope was lost I went to an AA meeting and I have not taken a drink since that day.
In order to fix the alcohol problem I first of all had to understand what the problem was. For example, I am passionate about football or soccer as it is known to some and I regularly went to a bar to watch matches on TV. But was I really going to the bar to watch football or was there another reason? When my wife and I went out of town for shopping or other business I always insisted that we would go to eat in a place that served alcohol but was the food the real reason I went there? When there was an event that did not involve drinking or give access to alcohol I would not go most of the time or if I did go, I would be unhappy and waiting for it to be over. What I did not know was that I drank for only ONE reason I had an obsession for alcohol.
It was necessary for me to take some action through AA in order to remove that obsession which constantly drove me to seek out alcohol. I disagreed with many of the things that were suggested by AA but I was in a desperate place and willing to try anything. Thankfully for me, the people with long term sobriety knew what I needed to do and I can now look back and say that they were right. Today, I do not have any urge to drink and I am not in a battle with alcohol as an alcoholic, a battle I could never win. I have spent the last week or more surrounded by people who were drinking and there was even free alcohol available every day but it never tempted me to drink.
Do I have some sort of superhero power that enables me to do what had been totally impossible before? No, I do not have any magical powers. However, I have accepted that I cannot drink alcohol. I have come to understand that I could not do it on my own. I have simply copied what has worked for other people and up until today it has worked for me too.
Hang in there and know that the fact you owned this is huge. Embarrassment doesn't begin to describe what I did on June 28th, 2014 when I had just over a month of sobriety. Got so drunk that I blacked out, ended up in another town, wrecked my car and got 7 charges thrown at me along with the privilege of spending the night in jail. I have 84 days today and starting over was a positive for me.
I wish you peace and sobriety.
