Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
So in my previous post I mentioned I had gotten to the point of drinking a bottle of wine daily.
About a week ago I became ill with the flu. I spent about two days sleeping it off until I felt better. Walking home from work that day I automatically went to buy a bottle of wine and stopped myself cause I realised "technically I've gone two days without a drink." So I left it and came home to watch movies and just drink tea.
Overall I have had a drink twice this week. First one was when I had a fight with my ex boyfriend and I just automatically reverted to my usual remedy. However I didn't enjoy it and I felt really guilty. The second time I was out for dinner with friends and when the waitress asked for our drink order I automatically ordered a glass of wine. I was pleased to discover I didn't even enjoy it and ended up leaving half of it.
So going from 7 bottles of wine a week, this week I have had one bottle and half a glass. Not totally clean and sober but still a massive step up for me.
I was worried at first what I'd do with my evenings if I wasn't drinking but I'm finding I'm even enjoying just sitting in front of the tv with a cup of tea. Today I went into the shop to pick up cat food and found myself heading to the wine aisle automatically and actually stopped and told myself "no what are you doing" and I picked up a bottle of lemonade instead.
Baby steps but feeling good!

I accidentally deleted a journal entry that I wish I hadn't. Is there any way to get it back?

Instead of going to work I slept in until 11 am Now I'm treating myself at McAllister's to a Spud Max. When I go back tomorrow it will be Friday!

I love seeing her advice in action! You're doing great! Keep it up!
God Bless

Why dont you drop the booze before the road goes back to 7 a week again. I could try to moderate but it was actually worse and more agonizing than just cutting it out completly. Good Luck!
1is2many - I am trying to drop the booze, not moderate it. Fights with my ex were always a massive trigger for my drinking which is part of the reason I broke up with him. I haven't heard from him in a while so when he popped up again, it triggered me and I lapsed. The morning after I woke up and felt so guilty for drinking, I contacted him to tell him I will no longer be in contact. It just isn't worth the risk.
