Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
My bf and I will have been together for 8 years in a couple weeks. In the passed 3 years, his drinking has gotten so much worse than I’ve ever seen it. Now, he drinks 6 nights a week. Passes out in his chair and the wakes up hungry around 2 or 3 AM bc he didn’t eat supper.
His 17 year old daughter lives with us. She’s tired of it too. She misses the way he used to be.
When he’s drunk, anything can and will set him off. And he usually blames anyone who’s around for the reason he’s angry. It ends up making me angry and I find myself yelling at him. I have so much anger inside bc he’s letting his daughter and me feel lonely, when we shouldn’t be feeling this way. He should be sober and enjoying things with us.
Last weekend, his youngest daughter was here, she’s 8. He and I made plans to take her to see a movie since she was the only kid we had at home all weekend. Kinda like a date just for the 3 of us. Well, he passed out in the chair, again. So I took her to the movies myself. He woke up as we were walking out the door, asked if he could go. I told him no, that I wanted to hang out with her myself. She liked that idea, so she called it a girls night out. She’s no innocent, she doesn’t know he has a problem. All she sees is that dad is tired all the time. I hope I can keep her that innocent until hedecides to quit, so she never really knows anything.
He knows he has a problem. He just isn’t ready to do anything about it yet. I wish I could see into the future to know when he’ll do something about it so I can just count down the days to his healing and feeling better.
i have a 17 year old son who comes every other weekend and every summer. Last summer, my son saw first hand what it does to us all. I watched my son’s respect for him just drain away, right before my eyes. Makes me sad.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

One day, my wife had enough of my drinking and...long story short, the police were involved and I ended up in detox. Looking back on it now, it was the best thing that ever happened to me. After a 4 day detox, I went through the IOP which was followed by 3 months of counseling. Throughout all the counseling I had, regular attendance at AA meetings were mandatory.
It was 11 years ago next month when I entered an iop which changed my life forever. I have a great life now and I have never been happier.
I got the the help I needed because I was motivated to get help. I had hit my low and had lost everything that meant anything to me including my job, my wife and my self respect. Had my wife not put her foot down, I might not be here writing this reply. That's what worked on me and that seems to be what drives most alcoholics into AA. I got a AA sponsor who guided me through the steps and it healed my soul.
I am so glad I never had kids because I probably would have raised them like my parents raised me. Their own drinking was the cause of their deaths and that was a huge part of why I drank.
You can see what your bf's drinking is doing to him but look at what his alcoholism is doing to YOU! You need alot of support for yourself and alanon is a great place to find that support.

I have only just started visiting daily these past weeks. (I don’t think my wisdom has aged enough to give advice,
The members here, have great wisdom (life stories) and have been able to change my outlook somewhat. (At the moment), my sadness has not gone but has been replaced with an optimism. (My sister says I’m pessimistic,go figure!).
So read different posts/journals, ask questions, your free to vent as much as you want, because we are all indirectly and directly connected.
