Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I have learned a lot in my journey into sobriety. I have not always succeeded in accepting things and people immediately, but I do feel blessed to have enough insight to look at myself in the equation. I believe in giving no one the power to disturb my inner peace. If I allow it, the onus is on me to self examine. I have grown tremendously by considering this from AA literature...
"It is a spiritual axiom that every time we are disturbed, no matter what the cause, there is something wrong with us."
For me, I believe it is true 100% of the time. The key word is "disturbed". I can disagree or dislike or debate without allowing a disturbance to my inner peace. This has taken a lot of work and humility but has rewarded me tenfold in the last 6 or so months. I am a work in progress.
Today I will live and let live. Thanks Gary.
If you want people to know where youre coming from you have to do the same for them.
You want someone to respect the way you are recovering then you must respect there's as well. I'm finding that one out fast.
