Following is a letter I have sent to DS Admin to try and get clarification on the appointments of CL's.

To whom it may concern,

I am a member of the Alcoholism support group and recently there has been much discussion about the need for more than one CL. It is my understanding from the posts in thread whose link I have attached that DS admin has been contacted on this matter. To date there appears to be no follow up and from the post it states this matter was placed back in your hands in June.

It would be appreciated if you could inform the group where the appointment of more CLs is at or what needs to be done to expedite this matter as it is in my opinion causing disharmony within the group.

I agree that more CL's are needed. Things are way out of hand and have been for quite a while. Nodp could use the help. I'll look forward to updates on this matter. Thanks G8

CL is community leader David. There are many on other forums, but only 1 for this one.

They're to monitor the boards so that when folks get on here and spew venom and tell everyone to fuck off & die, they have the ability to close the thread so that no further replies can be left to keep bumping it up to the top. Which leaves room for folks who post genuinely wanting some help. (among other things...) :)

Then the cl's will be fighting over what threads to close and what not to close.

I personally think that having cl's is a bad idea, they have ignore member buttons and where you can report people for abuse, I think that's all you need. The bad post's get buried pretty fast anyways.

I support what you are asking G8, CL is a voluntary unpaid role and it is unreasonable to have just one CL (on such a lively board) who is expected to keep it all on the rails, ever fair, ever objective. Alcoholism is an emotive subject and there are many approaches to recovery.

I think it is a good idea to have people to 'confer' on what is going on.

I know on another support group this happens so that differing opinions can be listened to. Sometimes people can be too close to what is actually going on and need to take a step back.

Are CL's chosen by DS?

G8, I know you read here a lot here, and care deeply for the fellow alcoholic. I still think you'd make a great CL yourself. It's a group for the members, and the way you posted this letter shows enormous consideration for the members here. :}

Just to clear things up a bit on the matter. DS was sent letter in June & October on this matter and the only reply after weeks on both being sent and I quote, We are looking into the matter & will get back with you. Still waiting.
