Hi Loved1, I can tell you how I've done it. I cried out to God, and prayed for Him to take this away from me. I could always feel the itching I had for alcohol at that very moment just begin to lessen.

Now, I have a problem with not asking God for help...because the obbsession for alcohol is so strong, and I am so weak.

Sounds stupid, but most of the time I wont pray...because I want my alcohol too bad.

But I'm gonna try to each and everytime to Let it go, and to give it and me to God.

I also try my hardest every single day to let go, and let things unfold as they will. When i do this, i can relax and breathe and KNOW that he is taking care of me in all areas of my life. When i get stressed out, i say the serenity prayer(sometimes 20 times or more a day!) and this also works wonders for me! :)

i agree with bubbles it is hard... and most of the time i think i fake it until it is so much in my head.. i get on my knees for that day and do it.. hoping it will become a habit..

i used to pray for God's will with the caveat that his will better line up with mine or i was going to be p.o.'ed. lol. most days i am doing o.k. with letting things be as they are but it's a process. today, i took my dog to the vet knowing she probably would be put to sleep--she's 20 and is blind and getting weaker--and, surprisingly, i was calm about it. i truly did "let go and let God" and as i type this she's managed to once again escape the grim reaper. the next time i just maybe--once again--make bargains with God but for today i was successful.

that is something that you have to practice and practice.

It is hard to let go and let God....That is part of that ego always wanting to control everthing...but letting go and letting God in and on his time not mine takes work.
