Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I've done really well in the past going 78 says without drinking then another 21 days after a relapse but I'm finding it really hard this time to get motivated like I did before, this time I'm choosing to go to aa, do the 12 steps. Honestly I will do anything right now to stop this again!!!
I haven't got much support anymore, most of my friends don't talk to me because of it, others are drinking buddies and the closest friends I have, seem to have given up on me.
I can't really blame them though, I pushed one of them down a flight of stairs when they wouldn't give me my can of strongbow, I didn't even mean to I just really wanted it back but once that happened I realised that I am literally becoming some monster that I don't even know. When I realised I think I started to have a panic attack and...surprise, surprise! I went and got more drink to calm myself down FAST. It's the only way I know how to calm down and its killing me, I have so much guilt and want to go back with that group but now even I'm paranoid, I don't know what I could do, I always seem to hurt the people closest to me the most, I'm going to go sober again tommorrow but I'm petrified as I feel like I have no support and I'd push it away anyway.
Just wanted to share that really, thanks for listening

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

This is a great opportunity for you to put in a foundation for a better future. My suggestion to you is to put everything else on hold for a while and concentrate on recovery from the drinking problem. If you do that you will not only lose the urge to drink but you will also learn new ways of dealing with lifes issues and can go on to make full use of the talents that you have.
Your friends do not understand the problem that you have because they have not experienced it themselves. You will find people at AA meetings who do understand and who will want to help and support you. It is a good idea to go to a lot of meetings at the start, maybe for the first three months. Listen to what people share at the meetings and look out for people who have long term sobriety. After a while you can ask one of those people if he would become your sponsor and help you with the Steps.
You can then come to rely on a higher power for support and on the principles that you will have learned. People are human and even the best friends will let you down at times so that is one of the disadvantages of relying on other people for support. Better to find a way to be at ease with yourself and to be able to cope with life the good and the bad parts.
Some of those people you have pushed away will probably come back into your life when they see how you have changed. Others will not come back so it is better to move on from those. You will also make many new friends if you keep going to the meetings.
You are now at the start of a journey into the unknown and it probably looks frightening. However, it is a problem that you can turn to your advantage and you can experience a freedom that few of your friends will ever know.
