Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
hello, I am new to the group and I find all of your stories so meaningful to me, thank you. I am experiencing many of the similar situations that I find here in the forum. I can sometimes control the drink, but then there is always that other time that I can’t stop until I’m blasted. I always end up crying and fighting with my boyfriend and I always feel so guilty and can’t even remember things that I’ve said. I differ tremendous anxiety on a daily basis and I often can’t sleep. I am trying to get help and stay sober. Thank you for your support and I’m so happy to be here and to know I am not alone.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

If you can find som3 other ppl that have recovered they can make your chances a lot better. I found new friends and mental health in aa

Day one was the toughest day I had to get through. Being so down and realizing how bad things had gotten, I almost felt like my life couldn't be real.
I am almost 13 months sober now, and I can't believe how much my life has improved. And I go to sleep every night, knowing that it will only be that much better tomorrow, as long as I do not pick up that first drink.
Please know that there are many resources out there should you need help. And we will always be happy to read your updates here.
Thank you for sharing.
Alcoholics usually have underlying reasons triggering their addictions and it sounds like your trigger is your anxiety which is extremely common.
One of the best ways to get sober is to begin with a visit to your doctor who can prescribe anxiety medication or refer you to a good therapist, or both.
There was no way I could quit without help. I tried to quit hundreds of times but relapsed within a few days or a few weeks. Finally, I went through outpatient treatment where I learned alot about what addiction is, how it co-opts the mind, and how to control it. Then I went through more counseling for another 3 months where I learned what my triggers were and how to handle them. Plus, I was reading and posting here in AA as well. It took all of the above to keep me sober for 11 plus years but I have a great life now and I have never been happier.
I really believe we are all responsible for finding what works for us so good luck in your search and good luck on your road to recovery and may you find peace and happiness along the way.
Keep us posted because the path you take might help someone else. Many will read these and will identify so if it, helps, keep coming back!
God Bless
