I found it sort of ironic since there have been night when I've stayed up late (drinking) and watched his show although most mornings I couldn't really remember what I'd watched.

Alcoholism does not care about your station in life. However, when a person is famous, we get to watch it play out very publicly.

what is totally off with Jimmy Fallon whom I also like a lot is his show offers drinking as a consequence of losing a game and they drink heavy during the show....I worked in radio for short time as volunteer and also as a paid board operator and while volunteering I was told that you were not allowed to drink while on the air...well if that is true with radio what about TV and why is the FCC ignoring the host drinking on Tonight Show?

I do think that Jimmy might benefit from stopping drinking....

It is not the FCC but the networks themselves that have the "no drinking" guideline.

I remember watching Jimmy Fallon being interviewed several years ago. The interviewer asked Jimmy if he had any addictions. Jimmy stuttered a little bit (as he does) and said something to the effect of "If I did have anything, it would be with alcohol". I thought that was interesting.
I never paid much attention to the drinking games they play on that show, but yes- it happens often, kind of a party vibe.
