Weve had a lot of new people recently just beginning their road to sobriety. 


Hopefiully you made it through Friday and Saturday - days most people just resign to drinking. 


Best of luck to everyone.  There is great support here and a variety of solutions.  


Just don't drink today.

Another successful weekend for me. Next Friday night, we arrive at a fancy dinner party, greeted by a tray of champagne, followed by 4 (four!) wine pairings courses. Is it any wonder we all get "blotto" as my husband calls it?!? He said I can help keep his family & friends sober this time. Uhg.
Well, don't wanna ruin today be worrying about next weekend already!

I would kindly refuse this early in my sobriety. I now feel strong enough I have my husband as my accountability partner and just kindly say no thank you or I don't drink and have a non alcoholic alternative. I have brought sparkling apple cider or something like that and fill my glass with that.

Personally, I don't think it is your responsibility to "help keep his family & friends sober". If such an even is so problematic, I would RSVP my regrets...

seaq, I could never allow myself to be triggered that early in sobriety so I would stay away from events like that. If you continue to go to those and are strong enough to stay sober then you will have truly beaten the odds!

    check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

     I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...
