The problem for the drug or alcohol addict is that the mind is already full. It is something similar to a computer whose memory is clogged up with all sorts of temporary internet files, viruses and Trojans.

Before the computer can be of any further use, the hard drive must be cleaned out and defragmented so that it is renewed and ready to start off as new. The mind must be cleared out of a lot of garbage too so that there is room for new thinking. Otherwise, education is pretty useless.

Our temporary internet files and viruses consist of Wrong Thinking, the unsalable goods that are identified in Step 4.
