When i Spend to much time with people my head starts telling me shit. I Know it says That my thoughts real or imagined have the power to destroy me an i can really identify with that. I Am 3 years sober an i am coming on well in the steps i am working on step 7. I Find the living very hard, i get very paranoid i seem to analyze
everything people say an do an think they have a double meaning to every thing, i do pick up on thing some people
miss,i am a good judge of character but i end up feeling very negitive. I am Handing over an praying as i have been going through the emotional ringer. Some people say i have to much time on my hands an its cuz im not working but i dont think thats the problem. I am on the sick for depression an anxiety an have worked previous to that an i was worse cause i find it hard to keep a job. I have also Been diagnosed adhd which has kinda answers y i have struggled with work. Y Is life so hard

We as alcoholics make life hard.At least i do.justvlike the program.I cant seem to keep it simple.just like life.I too,have to much time on my hands.Just by answering this my mind is off of me and my designs!

good for you,tambura6, life is what it is. we can be dealt a losing hand of cards and still win. why? because anything handled with finesse can become a winning hand. and remember this: a made up mind will diminish any fears. keep the faith. devonh

i just need to put down the sword and go with what is given.Damn i wish there wass a meeting to attend.Not a lot of day meetings in youngstown,ohio.Pitts burgh was much better

How does one work step 7. In the big book when you answered the 2 ? from step 6 you simply say the prayer. It says at that point we have completed step 7. Sounds like who ever is your sponsor is doing something other than the big book directions. Maybe thats your problem. try and find a big book sponsor and follow the directions out of the Big book.

Step Seven states "Humbly asked him to remove our shortcomings".

The Twelve and Twelve states: "the whole emphasis of Step Seven is on humility" (pg 76). For me, it's not as simple as saying a prayer.
The Twelve and Twelve also states: "A great turning point in our lives came when we sought for humility as something we really wanted, rather that as something we must have. It marked the time when we could commence to see the full implication of Step Seven..." (pg. 75). I know for me, seeking humility was something that didn't come naturally...I had to WORK at it. With the help of God and my sponsor of course. :)

Is Step 7 about prayer? Yes because we need to ask God to remove our shortcomings and the 7th step prayer in the Big Book is an excellent prayer for a start. Is Step 7 about humility? You betcha. What is humility? There are about as many definitions as their are alcoholics in the world. But I was told that if I sought it and became humble before my Higher Power or God, then He would work his wonders. Everyone works the Steps the way the best fits them. There are no right ways or wrong ways. A Big Book sponsor is good but so is a sponsor who has what you want and are willing to go to any length to get it. My second sponsor was not a big book sponsor. He died of cancer 1 month after my 2 AA birthday,and two weeks after his 38th. What makes a good sponsor is up to you just as how to work and live Step 7 is up to you. Don;t let people tell you different.

You are on step 7? Well, you are going to experience all of the character defects until you are willing to surrender them to God. Pride, anger, greed, lust, gluttony, sloth, and envy. Hang on to your ass you are in for the ride of you life.
