Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I've known a current friend or several years. He's always been a big drinker, but would limit it to just a few evenings a week. Recently, however, i've noticed that he always seems to have a drink in his hand when hes not attending college and he quite often seems very drunk towards the end of the day. At first I thought it was just his way of dealing with stress, but even when he's relaxing or simply reading a book he will be drinking hard liquor.
He's not the kind of person to ever admit he has a drinking problem. It took him a long time to accept he was addicted to cigarettes. The drinking has been particularly frequent for about 6 weeks now. Should i be doing anything to interfere yet or should i keep my nose out of his business?

Can you identify these rom-coms from just a screenshot from the middle of the films? This is a multiple choice quiz so even if you're not entirely sure you can always take a guess and at least have a 25% chance of getting it right anyway, so why not have a go?! https://www.buzzfeed.com/alysaurus688/rom-com-screenshot-trivia-quiz

Not sure there is anything you can do to help him. Most of us have to hit a low before we will even recognize we have a problem and seek help to get it under control.
Good Luck!
I would tell him how much the friendship means to you but you can't handle his drinking - watching him head toward dependency on alcohol in the future. But that is me. You have to decide what could possibility make him realize he needs to go to AA.
He will probably brush off whatever you say and continue his drinking. And nothing you can say will make him stop. But it might help him recognize what he is doing. I wish people had said something to me when my drinking was spiraling out of control. I might have stopped sooner.
Don't talk to him about it when he is drunk.
