I started back to work this week...
It is amazing to me how many people want to know what kind of "fun pain meds" I got for my knee surgery.l
One of the managers asked and I said I only took them for a few days. Her reply was "But you got the whole prescription filled right?" I was so taken aback, I just answered with "Of course?"
I guess the weirder answer from me would have been the truth... "No. I flushed them and canceled the remaining prescription."
I think I shoulda said "Yes, and I crushed and snorted them in those 3 days" or "Yes, and I sold them for a pretty penny down the street at 38th and Penn".
...I think that would have reversed the awkwardness a little. She'd have been the dumbfounded one. :-p
Just funny to me how clueless people can be. I work in an office where I'd be hard pressed to find an alkie or addict - at least not one sloppy enough to wear it the way I did.

it's not uncommon to ask, did you get the good stuff for someone that was in surgery or pain - people in sobriety just have a different perception than others when it comes to that stuff.
It's not weird sweetie, it's just your getting sober - and that's great!

I am lookin at neck surgery and my son and I have talked alot about it and the pain meds....right now the 1 doc won't operate because I smoke......
I am not taking pills atm and none in the house....I just KNOW to be very careful and having my son to oversee helps lots

She asked me if I wanted them. I said no, because I know darned well that I would probably abuse them. Even now, I almost wish that I had taken them!!! Temptation. Sigh.

My boss even remarked something to that effect as well. I guess "normies" don't look at it like we do and to them, it's no big deal.
I'm so proud of you woman! I am taking mine as I need them, but ONLY as I need them. The past 2 nights I've woken up to go potty and started to take one and stopped & took a moment to really feel what I was feeling and decided I wasn't hurting too bad & didn't need them.
