Hi Everybody,

My name is Dave and I am an alcoholic. I could easily say an addict as well, but alcohol was always my drug of choice.

At meetings and even on the web I usually use my whole name, but as an intro and not wanting to debate the Traditions I'll stay away from that.

Anyway, I found DS about a month ago after a previous board I was on imploded. I was a mod on that site and to make a long story short, I just left.

Came here and joined the CODA group and then started a small ACOA group and now making my way here.

I came to AA in 1986 and stayed sober for five plus years. While I could admit to being an alcoholic, I still hadn't accepted that as fact. So in 1992, I decided to do some more research and on Labor Day 1994, I was ready to accept that one drink is way to many for me.

Sobriety has taught me the power of dreams and that while I live in the real world, I will continue to chase my dreams.

Some of these dreams have become reality for me. I am a published author having written three books. I also write poetry and for awhile had my own poetry column in a local newspaper. One thrill of writing poetry was having one turned into a song.

And my next dream? Flying out of the USA next month to spend the holiday season in England with a lovely lady I met because of recovery.

Anyway, I just wanted to stop in and say hi and thank you for letting me be a part of your group...

Oh my name? "Messenger" is my adopted Cherokee name. I was adopted into their family last year and I wear that name with pride and yes it is another dream of mine that became a reality.
