Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
That should be your "natural high" !! Course, the most I ever dealt with at one time was a family of eight. At any given point in time, at least one was MIA, another bleeding from some trip or fall against the corner of a table, two more battling over rights to the doll and "the angel" sitting on the sofa reading a book. =)
Sounds like you are on a guilt trip. Take the next train to SoberCity. Change your craving to raving Sobriety. It's simple, but not easy.
That's if you wish to experience the full range of life alert and awake. It's a worthwhile adventure!
And there's the added advantage of being a role model to the twin terrors ... er I mean, the terrific twins =) (I'm thinkin' age 2 is kind of a challenge for both the little nippers and the parental units ...)
Give it some thought and then (as me and CoogeeMum say), GOYA & DIN.
JM2C. Have a thoroughly thrilling Thursday! T
Secondly, even if today you have control and drink to "relax" this may not be the case for you one day. Alcoholism is a progressive disease. That means with time it gets worse, it kinda sneaks up on you, especially at times of personal loss and/or emotional devasation. Two years ago I was like you at age 50. Then my whole life fell apart all at once and guess who stepped in to help me "relax?" Yep, a bottle of wine...then two bottles of wine...then an intentional overdose (that would have really helped me to relax), then 3 hospitalizations with lots of meds for Major Depression and Anxiety Disorder, then back home and the cycle started again...using wine to self-medicate my emotional pain.
I was safe two years ago, today I am not safe with wine in my life at all. It helped me to relax at the time too, but in the end it almost killed me...and still may do so if I don't stay away from it.
Also, I can't imagine drinking when my children were younger, gosh, it takes so much to stay on your toes with toddlers, especially two of them. What would you do if you had to go to the hospital for one of them? Drink and drive? Think about what you are doing to your children. Find other ways to relax and get to a counselor soon.
as for my girls.. i do always make sure someone who is not drinking is around, but i also do know that is shirking my responsibilities onto someone else. i also pour out the last beer.. don't finish it so then im not drunk right??? I have actually only gotten drunk 3 times since we got the girls.. i know 4 is my limit. my husband and i were married 12 years with no kids and we always sat on the patio in the evenings and drank a few. I love to read a book and drink. i actually cannot sit still unless i am drinking a beer.. it's crazy and i don't understand it. please continue ur brutal honesty!! and i DO NOT DRIVE at all when i have a beer.
today is a beautiful day. i know hubby will come home with a 12 pack and i so want to enjoy it with him.. this evening after dinner is cooked, house is clean girls are scrubbed up and ready to settle down... why is that wrong??
Just the simple fact you make sure there is someone there not drinking so you can... is a hmmm? moment... one you need to figure out denial is a terrible place.. as for not drinking and driving I didn't either in the beginning however, I sure drove the day after is that not putting my children, someone else or myself in danger anyway being all hung over? Surely it was... There was a time I couldn't wait for my ex husband back then to come home and we would all go walking in the evenings I looked forward to that.. I called it family time... then the time came where i looked forward to that 12 pack that was on the way home with that same husband you get my drift? That family life ended... I still stayed the same this time there were know more giggles from the kids, there was crying now... I got lost in my alcoholism I was in deniel... I needed help I reached and am getting the help that is needed... and put the bottle down...
You can do too if you WANT it bad enough... a very smart man who posts on this board who says the "Want has to be more then the NEED"... You wouldn't be posting this if you didn't WANT something to change within you...
