Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
its just ridicolous
Newcomers are the most important people here and we certainly want them to feel welcome. We also need to provide a forum for members to discuss the program's finer points.
I'm being serious, I have not seen anything of the sort in a long time...yes I've seen threads talking about AA being something that has worked for some but I have yet to see any mention of it being "AA or you're not sober" in months.
Please.......someone show me where non AA'ers have been bashed. I would really like to understand where this is coming from lately.
I asked Jan in a hug if it would have pissed her off to see a thread singling out Men only or People who drive Honda's only.....I don't believe because a thread is asking a question of Men who drive Hondas as saying that Women who drive Chevy's are idiots.
But it seems as though that is the way it is perceived by some.
I also keep seeing mention of many saying "AA is the only way" as Mel just did but I have yet to see that anywhere recently.....
Seriously-please show me where that is being seen.....Is there a secret board that I am not aware of? SHOW ME THE MONEY!
"AA works best for most" Aa never claimed to work "Solely for all"
An arguement can be made using the old "it works if you work it", but I could start a program that's only requirement is you just don't drink alcohol that would also "work if you work it"
I don't think their are many people on here that would come out and say "aa is the only way" but I've been on DS awhile and their are a few that believe this and have said it.....It was one reason I left when I first joined and started the recovery without AA page.
Anyways Donttread I agree that most little arguments we have are no big deal.
Mel, when I was young I hung around Missionaries and other "highly" religious people who spent hours debating the nuance's of the bible and theology. Listen to all you can and learn,... BUT... come away with something YOU can live with and make a part of your daily life. Its NO GOOD if it doesn't work for YOU.
