Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

That every single problem in my life, can be traced right back to my drinking.
I had to drink to be social, but then became 'oversocial' and the one everyone was laughing AT, not with.
I had to drink to relax, but then had to 'blackout' to relax. Because just 'relaxing' wasn't enough.
And now I'm 50. I've lost 25 years from drinking. Lost money, friends, relationships, and a few family members. I fight every day not to drink. The demon inside me keeps whispering...."why not, you're life is more than half over, and you've wasted more than that". What a horrible feeling.
The guilt I have for losing so much overwhelms me. But I TRY to look forward to each sober day with a new vision. But it is hard. VERY.
So much I would like to correct, yet where do I begin? Where?

Have you ever read a book that made you want to travel somewhere? (And if so, did you ever actually travel there?)

Through the help of other alcoholics, I learned that once I put alcohol in in my body it sets off a chemical reaction and I crave it and obsess over it.
Once the alcohol was out of my system, it set off a whole lot of other problems: like living with all those uneasy feelings, anger, self-loathing, my entitlement issues, ect, ect, ect......
The good news is that there is alot of help out there for those that Want it. The bad news is unforturnately there are many more that need it than want it. Hard facts....alcohol destroys famillies, relationships, and lives.
The moment that I reached for the truth, the moment I humbled myself enough to accept help, the moment I made a decision to take action......There was hope again.

Take good care.
When things were going badly I thought "life's terrible, I'm terrible, why not?"
Same illness, same demon - different tactics. No matter what, it always wanted me drunk.
