I’m giving up!

my post isn’t about alcohol it’s about my oldest sons father whom is a recovering meth addict who went back to using again! He met and hangs out with meth users whom he calls his friends! He goes out every other night and stays out until dawn. He has even brought drugs home I’m afraid our son is going to find his stash someday! When I first met him he was using hardcore I told him if he didn’t quit I would leave him. He stopped and hadn’t touched the drug up until January of this year! Lately he’s been going out every other night and staying out until dawn! He tells me he’s doing drugs! I don’t know what to do! I’m at the point of walking away and taking my son!

I would call the police. If your son is under 18 then don't let him near his dad. If you get law enforcement involved, it might be the shock therapy dad needs to get his life straightened but if it were me, I wouldn't put up with it. You are responsible for taking care of the health and safety of your son if dad can't do it because he is high all the time. If you need help for yourself and your son and you live in the USA then call your local department of Human Services for assistance. If they have nar anon meetings where you live then I highly recommend. In the meantime, we will keep you in our thoughts and Prayers.

Thank You so much for your comment! My son is 12years old I was thinking about calling the cops yes i just told him when he got home at 430am this morning after being out all night that I’m done and he lost me as a friend! He told me he isn’t going to use anymore for he can’t handle it! I’ve heard that line of bull more than once it means nothing

Your son is the most important person in this equation as he is too young to make adult decisions and is depending on you.

This guy may well be sincere when he tells you that he is going to quit but he is likely to keep breaking his promises. Action speaks louder than words so until you see proof that he has sorted himself out, you would be well advised to have no contact with him.

It’s not always easy to do the right thing but I think you know what you need to do.

I wouldn't believe it either. If he doesn't do the work like a rehab or 12 step program he's probably going to relapse. Your child's welfare has to come first. Good luck.
