Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I've been drinking for about 22 yrs and it's gotten the best of be on and off the whole time, when things are going good I seem to mess it up by drinking, I was in a 3yr relationship and I had my boys and she had her girls so it was the 6 of us and very much in love and planning a future together, she tried to help me and I didn't see it till it was to late, now I'm alone and I owe it all to just 1 more, I'm okay, well now I know I'm not, and I definately can't handle being alone in a time of need, there is still hope. Can't sleep or eat, and can't focus on anything my heart aches for her and the children cause I put them in this mess.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

One of the most important things I learned is that I cannot change the thoughts of others. I could only change myself and how I view the world around me. I didn't really have any peace until I let go of all the anger and resentment. It was only then that I could move on with my life. 6 months after my divorce, my ex wanted me back but by then, I had changed my mind and I didn't want her back. This may or may not happen to you but I really believe, you need to focus on yourself and your own sobriety, and accept whatever comes your way, without judging. IMHO
God Bless
But you need to know if you don't realize it already is that alcohol, drugs and even cigarettes are all tools that mentally ill people use to self medicate their illness. To cope with it. But it always backfires in the end and blows up in your face sometimes when you least expect it. That's because these are the wrong tools to use to treat mental illness. You need to learn too use the right tools such as Pchyaitrists proper medication and therapists as well and you need to learn good coping skills to get through the rough spots and times when you feel like you are going to fall back into drinking again. Rehab is a very good place to start working on yourself I'm glad you are going. When you get definitly join a local AA chapter in your area and go to the meetings on a regular basis. You will learn alot from them as well. And they will also hook you up with a sponsor some one you can call on anytime you feel you are having a weak moment. All the best to you. johnnyboy
