Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Don't let the title fool you. I know why I joined the group. I just don't know why im here in my current state of life.
Let me explain. So the other night was my 29th birthday. It was a great night. Late lunch, pool hall, karaoke bar, drinks. At the end of the night when myself, my significant other and my s/o's cousin and I arrived back at our home something set me off. I don't know what exactly. But I started cussing at my significant other. Yelling a lot of profanities. I don't understand what had set me off. And that fact that I was set off for practically no reason while under the influence scares me. And i feel like it scares my partner. We have spoken and he does not want to tolerate that kind of behavior. I apologized to both my significant other and his cousin.
I guess the reason why I am on here is to seek guidance mostly. About gaining self control while under the influence. Or possibly stop drinking all together. I have had a drink in two days now. I'm not craving it now. I normally never crave it. I just need guidance? Advice? Assistance? I don't know.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Normal drinkers will not ever google “ problems with alcohol “ or “ why do I drink too much “. Normal drinkers will have a couple of drinks and become sleepy. Me , ( I am an Alcoholic drinker, will have two beers in the shower before going out. I have a different reaction to booze. It makes me fired up and want more and more , until I’m blacked out and out of control. Also I found that booze makes me someone I’m not
Sooo... after a long road with booze I decided that I needed help, I asked my doctor and he prescribed Antabuse... it makes you sick when you drink if you take it regularly. Well I stopped taking it after a week because I WANTeD a drink.
I continued drinking Nd things got worse and worse. My drinking was how I coped with life. The good , drink. The bad, drink... I became reliant upon the DRUG. Yes alcohol is a drug, and it’s a depressant furthermore
Today I know that me and booze are not friends Booze makes me an asshole so I just don’t start. It took a lot of therapy and actually having to learn HOW to cope with life without booze , but it is so much better
Ask yourself this... can I go a week without booze and not think about it ? Me, when I was active in my addiction I could not go two days. It’s a drug and very sneaky because it’s legal. It will take you and turn you into something that you are not sober
Glad you stopped by our little haven. It’s better sober life is waiting , Cmon!
I felt so low and dirty having to apologize for something I really didn’t remember
That sucked
Is there a family history of drugs or alcohol? It’s not that we are bad or immoral, but I believe our bodies are different when it comes to booze, my dad and his dad had issues, it’s not a moral thing, but physiological
As far as I know I have only seen my father drink obsessively as a child and teenager. As an adult he has slowed down a lot especially during the pandemic.
I sense that one of my sisters has a bit of an alcohol addiction. Apart from this I have not seen any family members really drink.
It’s a drug and in large quantities can cause psychosis. The body can’t get enough oxygen because the blood is unable to carry it and basically the brain is starved.
Symptoms Somewhat like tourers where the inner true self is dark and unpredictable, read some of the. Wives of alcoholics. It’s heartbreaking what SO go thru and they don’t deserve that
All addiction is triggered by underlying mental health issues in need of healing. Like anxiety, depression, ptsd, etc. There are ways to heal that. One is by visiting an addiction counselor. Another is by attending an AA meeting, and getting a sponsor who can guide you through the 12 steps.. Another, is by attending outpatient treatment which most hospitals in the US have...
I have done all of the above., because I was motivated to do everything it took to stay sober.. I had hit my low. and nearly died from my addiction....
I highly recommend a visit to your doctor who can evaluate you and discuss your options...In the end it is totally your decision how you want to proceed down the path of recovery..
God Bless
That was a moment of clarity when I shocked myself at how unhealthy my mind had become. I felt swept away by fear. The thing I realized was that it wasn’t just the accident I had been through and uncertain work situation as a result. It was years of procrastination of becoming a real adult. That night after my melt down and apologizes I KNEW that I needed a different approach to my life. And I knew that sobriety had to be the starting point.
Best decision I ever made. I truly like myself now and that inner strength makes everything nicer.
The fact that you’re here seeking to share and listen to some feedback is HUGE!!!! It means that you are opening up to looking inward. Not everyone is that brave:)
